Croeso Welcome

Hi there

No - this picture was not taken recently; it was a beautiful summer's day last year when Queenie and I were enjoying a leisurely hack on some quiet lanes around Pwllheli.

Please look at the programme for the forthcoming summer months.  I hope there is an event you will be interested in taking part in and I look forward to seeing you.

As you will know, we all lead very busy lives these days, juggling work and family, and we have very little time for our hobby, horse riding.

Please take a few moments to realize many hours go into organising these events; some are well-supported,whilst others are not.  Without your support the future calendar will not be as exciting and eventful.  Therefore, if you have any suggestions for the way forward for the Club, please not not hesitate to get in touch.  I and the committee are here to make the Club work for you so that we can all do what we love the most - being with our horses!

Happy Riding

Dear Member

Welcome to Clwb Marchogaeth Llyn Riding Club.  The Club was first started in 2004  by Phylis Jones, who had been given a 4 year old cob and, not having ridden for many years, felt that she needed help with him.  She enlisted the help of local friends and then decided that there must be many more like her who would benefit from being able to swop experiences and to help each other and so she decided to form the Llyn Riding Club.  Phylis arranged an open evening and a committee was formed and for the next five years she was a very vital cog in the wheel as the Chairperson.  This role has now been taken over by Eleri Roberts, who, with the hardworking committee, has promised to keep the Club standards up.

We hope you will enjoy the events we have organised for you to join in and that you (and your horse) will have fun with us.  Please remember that you do not have to own a horse to be a member of the Club - just a love of all things equine and an interest in making the most of the facilities we have in this area.  If you need to hire a horse these are available from Penllyn Riding Centre for clinics which take place there.

2009 has been a very successful year for the club – many clinics and talks have been held and well-supported and we have tried to arrange something for each weekend for members to join in with.  We are limited in this area as far as venues are concerned but are always on the lookout for suitable places to use, be it a field, an all-weather arena or an indoor school, so if you can offer anything – please let us know.

The current programme can be found on the Calendar page. You can also keep track of events, see write-ups of clinics that have taken place and check on any late changes that may have to be made on our website www.llynridingclub.co.uk.  Please feel free to ring any of us at any time, either to book a place on a clinic or to find out what is going on. If there is anything you would like to see organised, please contact us and we will do our best to fit it in.  If anyone is interested in representing the club in dressage or showjumping competitions please let a committee member know.  There is a Windsor qualifier for both dressage and showjumping being held by Llandudno Riders Club at Bryn Derw on 31 January and 7 February respectively, follow the link from our website to pick up the schedules.  This is for members of Riding Clubs – it would be good to have some representatives taking part and great to have support on the ground on the day from those of you who don’t want to do the hard bit!  There are also Area 20 qualifiers held in July – the club will pay for the entry fees for these if teams can be arranged.  A Trec competition and a Combined Training competition are being organised (see calendar) and we hope to resurrect the Christmas Show this year.  Please support us!

If any time you wish to join in with a hack out just ring one of the committee and they will put you in touch with someone.  If you are planning to take part in a clinic it is most helpful if you could send in the booking form with the money in advance.  If you have booked in and are unable to come at the last minute, then we do appreciate it if you can find a replacement or we unfortunately will have to charge half of the cost of the clinic, as instructors and venues are booked well in advance.  If you are not riding, come and watch – free refreshments will be available and it is a good way of getting to know other members.

We look forward to seeing you soon and to a successful 2010.  Happy New Year.
